City Chamber Esch-sur-Alzette: Technology that respects civic architecture

The City Chamber of Esch-sur-Alzette brings together the formal character of a historic public space with the functional demands of contemporary civic decision-making. Vertical timber wall cladding, generous windows, a coffered ceiling and the chamber’s prominent artwork establish a dignified architectural setting. At the centre, the U-shaped council table creates an open and inclusive layout for dialogue, debate and collaboration.

For this setting, ELEMENT ONE developed an integrated conference solution that keeps technology accessible while preserving the visual calm and clarity of the room.

A tailored Silverline solution

Each workstation is equipped with a FOLD! 173 FullHD retractable Touchmonitor, integrated conference technology and a SOCKET-X connection box. These elements are combined within a custom-made stainless-steel frame as part of the Silverline concept.

The continuous, precisely integrated frame creates a clean, consistent line along the table. Rather than adding individual technical components to the furniture, it unifies display, connectivity and conferencing into one refined design element. The result is an organised tabletop with a clear architectural rhythm — designed to complement the chamber rather than compete with it.

Designed for communication and focus

When required, the FOLD! 173 FullHD touch monitors rise from the table and fold into an ergonomic viewing position. Their touch functionality provides each participant with direct access to digital content, agendas, documents and collaborative applications.

Integrated microphones support clear communication throughout the chamber, while SOCKET-X provides practical, local access to the required connections. Every element is positioned within easy reach, helping create an intuitive and efficient user experience for councillors, speakers and visitors alike.

When the technology is not in use, the monitors fold back into the furniture, allowing the council table and the room’s material language to take centre stage.

FOLD! 173 FullHD Touch

The FOLD! 173 FullHD is a retractable, wafer-thin 17 inch FullHD touch monitor designed for premium meeting, conference and council environments. Its motorised folding mechanism enables the display to be integrated directly into the table surface and deployed only when needed.

In this installation, the monitor forms part of a complete, tailor-made workstation that combines:

The project at Esch-sur-Alzette demonstrates how complex conference technology can be integrated into a public interior without compromising architectural quality. The Silverline concept enables architects, interior designers and furniture specialists to plan technology as an integral part of the table design from the outset.

A considered combination of materials, proportions and functionality creates a future-ready chamber that supports digital collaboration — while retaining the presence, openness and civic dignity of the space.
