Meetings, conventions, training courses and conferences in a professional environment have one important thing in common with weddings: A central element is the banquet table or, in the case of professional gatherings, the conference table. Even before the question of who will be seated where and next to whom, it is important to decide which set-up to choose. In addition to the decisive spatial conditions, the planning here can already determine the working atmosphere and influence productivity as well as have a psychological impact on those present.
The round table, for example, is an expression of equal rights for all participants, while a rectangular conference table can reflect hierarchies. A U-shape, on the other hand, is advantageous when presentations are planned and the focus is on discussion. In practice, however, long, rectangular rows of tables with seating opposite each other are often observed due to architectural constraints. This variant often proves to be a challenge for the required conference technology, especially when there is a lack of space. If each participant seat is to be equipped with a digital workstation, there is often not enough space for individual development with two monitors arranged back to back and the visual appearance is often unsatisfactory. Every conference and every meeting usually follows a more or less predetermined script. Depending on the environment, the occasion and the current topic, an event is made up of different elements. These include thematic presentations by individuals, group discussions or exchanges between individuals or smaller subgroups. All of these scenarios must be taken into account when planning a conference room, its equipment and its occupancy. If seats are arranged in such a way that participants sit opposite each other at a short distance, it is obvious that they will exchange ideas in pairs or in direct contact with those sitting next to them. Monitor technology on the individual tables proves to be a disruptive factor here. At the same time, monitors are needed to make information accessible to participants without having to refer to a smartboard that may be a few meters away and covered by other participants.
The solution to this “dilemma” is the retractable monitor: at the touch of a button, CONVERS DOUBLE can be raised from the tabletop or lowered again, also at the touch of a button or remotely. The special feature of the monitor developed by ELEMENT ONE is that it is double-sided: each monitor consists of two displays arranged back to back for participants sitting opposite each other. The CONVERS DOUBLE is technically designed in such a way that the people sitting opposite can receive either the identical or individual image signals via two separate inputs.

When developing CONVERS DOUBLE, ELEMENT ONE did not simply pack two independent monitors into one housing. This would not have achieved what makes the double-sided monitor a true original that has already proven itself in numerous applications. With a housing thickness of just 24.5 mm, the double-sided monitor with a screen area of 21.5″ each in 16:9 format is slimmer than it seems to be possible. The monitor in the stylish, silver anodized, milled aluminium housing is extended and retracted by means of a quiet stepper motor and is hidden under a brushed stainless steel cover when retracted. The technical equipment of the CONVERS 220 DOUBLE FullHD meets the latest standards and also impresses in terms of sustainability thanks to its low power consumption and long-lasting LED technology.
